Volunteers and Placement Students

Katrina Hamilton, Personal Development Mentor

Our Personal Development Mentor helps young people who have reached the upper age limit of our Personal Development Service to access other support services.

Katrina worked in advice services, housing and homelessness before retiring in 2023. As a mother and grandmother, she has had a keen interest in the wellbeing of children and young people for a long time. She volunteers with Bridges Project to help young people “be all they can be”.

Alan Hamilton, Travel Training Mentor

Our Travel Training Mentor supports young people to plan and make journeys.

Alan worked as an IT systems developer in the semiconductor industry before retiring in 2021.  When working, he enjoyed developing technical skills in younger people and watching them grow in confidence. He is delighted he has the opportunity to continue doing this through volunteering with Bridges Project.

Lee Sim, Student

Lee is a Social Work student with the Open University who joined Bridges Project for a six-month placement in January 2024.

Lee has a background from working in adult services within different health and social care settings. She also travelled around the world for five years before returning to Scotland to complete her degree. Lee is planning on working in children and family support services when she finishes her degree.
