You can never have too much! However, unless you win the lottery or 'Pop Idol'.

You will have to make it stretch to cover all your costs. What happens if you don't pay your rent, or decide to buy a television on credit and then can't afford the payments? Check here for some great tips for saving money.

The Four B's of Money

We all need money to live, to pay for the things we want and need and to take part in lots of activities and interests. even just to get to work!

It's your cash and my job is to offer help so you have enough of it and can really enjoy it!

  1. Banking
    Whether you are receiving some benefit, starting work or going to college, you will need a bank account. There are lots to choose from and I can help you with finding the right bank account for your needs.

  2. Benefits
    I can help with finding out about any benefits you might be entitled to. I can also help with completing forms. If you are thinking about leaving home you will be entitled to £44.50 a week in benefits: either Job Seekers allowance if you are seeking work or Income Support if you cannot work. You will need to claim Housing Benefit to help with rent and if you are 18 or over you will need to claim Council Tax Benefit too!

  3. Borrowing
    • Did you know... £1,000,000,000,000,000,000 is owed by people in the UK who are in debt!!!! (This number means a trillion!!)
    • In Scotland, the amount that people owe, on average, is now about £10,000 each!!!
    Most people will need to borrow money at some time and I can help if you are thinking of borrowing and give you some tips on things to think about before you borrow. If you find you can't pay it back I can help you work out what to do next.

  4. Budgeting
    When you first start work, or manage your own place, it can be very helpful to work out all the things you need to pay for. Budgeting is all about making ends meet and making sure you can buy the things you want as well as the things you need!

    I won't tell you what to do with your money, but I can give you some tips on how to get the most out of the money you have.
