FAIRY CAKES - Makes 12 cakes

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 12 minutes

What's in it?

  • 125 grams of butter
  • 125 grams of caster sugar
  • 125 grams of self raising flour
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 2 table spoons of milk

Stuff you need

  • 12 cake cases
  • a bun tin
  • mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • small bowl
  • metal table spoon
  • sieve

What to do

  1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 5 or 190 degrees centigrade
  2. Place the paper cases in the bun tin
  3. In a mixing bowl beat the butter and sugar using a wooden spoon until fluffy and pale
  4. Beat the eggs in a small bowl then slowly add them to the butter and sugar mixture
  5. Then sift in half the flour and fold (like a figure of 8 movement with the spoon) it in with a metal spoon
  6. Add the milk and the rest of the flour and keep foling until well mixed
  7. Spoon the mixture into cases and bake for 12 minutes or until risen with a golden top
  8. Allow to cool for 10 minutes then ice as you like or eat as is!
