Monday Music Group

We have a weekly music group on a Monday morning, here are some of the reasons why people like coming along to the group:

"I have been teaching the group lots of guitar chords and runs for the past year. It is sometimes hard but really fun when I see people picking things up. The guitar can give you discipline and everyone always goes away with a smile on their face. It's good working together and being sociable." Caroline

"I like it because it is fun and it'd free. I like playing the guitar and the bongos and seeing my friends." Marcello

"I liked getting a shot on the electric guitar and amp. It made lots of feedback and sounded like the amp was haunted.  I have been into the guitar since I was 14 and I enjoy playing together with other folk. Although I wasn’t too keen on the song we recorded at the Bridge Centre- Rock DJ by Robbie Williams we all worked together and it came out ok." Ryan

Group Work Summer Programme Highlights 2010

As well as our regular activities, Bridges Project had some really special one off activities during Summer 2010;

“The Journey of a Cigarette”

A 2 day drama and multimedia project with Fast Forward, focussing on the ‘marketing’ of cigarettes. 2 short films were produced during the workshop

BMX riding at Phantassie Skatepark

We had 2 trips out during the summer. The young people received training on some rad moves!

Swimming

We had trips to Leith Waterworld and Dunbar Leisure Pool. Fun and frolics on the flumes.

Mexican Day

Arrrriba! We had a day in Bridges Project cooking Mexican food, making Mexican crafts and researching Mexican trivia.

Ghost Tour

We had a spooky evening starting with a scary movie at Bridges Project followed by a trip into Edinburgh and the Royal Mile. Joined the City of the Dead Graveyard Tour. It was scary!

Brass Rubbing

Visited the Edinburgh Brass Rubbing Centre at Trinity College Kirk off the Royal Mile. Great value for money.

Fringe Festival Street Theatre

Enjoyed various Street Theatre Acts at The Mound and The Royal Mile and a wee ice cream.

Drumming Workshop

Made sweet music at Fisherrow Harbour with Adrian Girling.

Powerboat

The most fantastic finale to the summer programme. A breathtaking trip with local skipper Mike Walker.
