Transitions Team

The Transitions Team works with young people to help them improve their social, educational and emotional development and to safely negotiate the next steps in their transition through school and onward to life after school.

MS1This team is led by our Transitions Coordinator who manages the team and referrals in to the service.  The Coordinator also delivers one to one casework support to senior phase pupils at risk of leaving school with no positive destination identified.  The Coordinator works in partnership with a number of agencies including social work, health professionals, high schools and Skills Development Scotland.

The Transitions Development Worker (Young Carers) supports young people with caring responsibilities to progress in to positive destinations whilst supporting them with the emotional and financial implications of their caring role.  She is involved in a number of national Young Carers groups, undertakes development work and raise awareness of Young Careers issues.

The Personal Development Worker provides emotional and practical solution focused support to young people aged 13 – 18.  The focus of this work is to increase personal confidence, improve self-esteem, increase resilience and develop coping strategies through therapeutic interventions.  Young people are referred to the service for a range of reasons including anger management, anxiety, isolation and relationship difficulties.

The Transitions Development Worker (Groups) delivers a yearlong employability programme to young people in S4 at 6 high schools in East Lothian.  She delivers tailored employability sessions specific to each group as well as working with external partners such as Dynamic Earth, Morrison Construction and Barclays Life Skills.
