Skills for Life Team

The Independent Living Support Worker supports young tenants and prospective young tenants in East Lothian on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.  The focus is on independent living skills and young people maintaining and sustaining  tenancies.  She provides money management support as well as delivering the SQA accredited Tenancy Award in conjunction with Borders College.  Another aspect of the role is running expectant mums’ groups and young mums’ groups working in partnership with health professionals to deliver specific sessions relevant to each group.

Two tutors deliver individual and group tutoring for young people aged 13 to 21.  It has a focus on improving basic literacy and numeracy skills enabling young people to improve functional educational skills required for college, employment and adult life.  Groups include Distant Learning Animal Care and accredited Playback Ice SCQF Level 4 units in topics such as Health and Wellbeing, Life Skills and Developing Confidence for Employment.
