Home Maintenance Support Worker

The Home Maintenance Support Worker post has been funded by East Lothian Council to provide a very practical, hands-on service to young people in East Lothian and aims to:

  • Assist young people aged 15.5 – 22 to learn the skills to maintain their home and garden
  • Provide a preparatory service for those in transition to independence, including people in through care and after care
  • Assist young people to acquire the basic DIY skills they need to make their living space safe, secure and welcoming whether in their family home, their own home or other accommodation
  • Teach young people about working safely and taking responsibility for themselves and their surroundings so that they can contribute positively to their neighbourhood and local community
  • Work in partnership to provide young people with the maximum opportunities to gain and develop independent living skills
