Volunteers and Students
Bridges Project offers placements to volunteers and students. We have an excellent partnership with Project Scotland who place full time volunteers with us to work directly with young people. We are also very happy to explore possibilities for CSV and EVS placements. We are pleased to accept volunteers referred by local volunteer bureaux. We also use volunteers in other parts of the agency and are very fortunate, for example, to have an excellent volunteer who helps us with administration. We have very long-standing voluntary Board Members who bring enormous energy and professional expertise to Bridges Project.
If you believe you have a skill or an interest which we may be able to utilise, please feel free to call Fiona Langskaill or Jim Boyle for an initial discussion. Unfortunately, we are unable to place everyone who wishes to volunteer with us, as we believe that voluntary work should bring added value to the services offered by Bridges Project and sometimes the skills on offer by volunteers do not quite meet the current demands or needs of the agency.
Students are another valuable resource and they can bring a range of skills and experiences which benefit the young people who use our services. We are very happy to offer student placements and have good relations with Jewel and Esk College, particularly in the areas of community care and working with communities. We are not, unfortunately, in the position to be able to offer heavily supervised student placements.
We value our volunteers and students and the benefits they bring to our work. We aspire to offer interesting and challenging placements for both students and volunteers. Volunteers are provided with training and opportunities to enhance their experiences are always fully explored, including the opportunity to undertake training and activities in Europe. Our students and volunteers have always left to positive destinations, including Higher Education, volunteering abroad and the paid work force.
