Personal Development Worker - Employability

The Personal Development Worker (PDW) works with young people in East Lothian to increase their employability skills. In particular the PDW can provide: 

  • Assistance with exploring and considering all the options available
  • Action planning and goal setting with continuous assessment
  • Help with making decisions about the future, taking into account all the individual’s personal and structural barriers
  • Support for self-travel
  • Opportunities to learn employability skills in a variety of settings
  • Help to build up a portfolio of evidence
  • Collaboration with and connections to other useful agencies
  • Help with making the most of opportunities outwith the local area
  • Support through the transition from unemployment or low skilled, poorly paid employment into a better destination
  • Preparation of a CV
  • Support and learning how to deal with application forms and covering letters
  • Help with managing interviews
