How to make a Referral

Making a referral to Bridges Project is simple. You can download the appropriate referral form from this page and fax, post, or email it in to us.

We always welcome a conversation before an official referral is made to us. This is to ensure that we are the right agency for the young person you want to refer. It also allows us to discuss possible waiting times and what we may be able to offer in the interim. The conversation permits Bridges Project to assess a young person’s eligibility for the services we provide.  Not all our services operate across both East Lothian and Midlothian, and not all our services are open to the whole age range of 14 years to 21 years.

Young people and their workers and family are always welcome to come for a visit, by appointment, to find out more about what we offer before an official referral is made.  Visits can be arranged by telephone at the number below.

We try to respond to enquiries and initial referrals within 48 hours. Sometimes, when we have a manager off work, this can take a day or two longer. Once we have made contact with the referring agency and the young person we will, with permission, let the appropriate workers know of our progress in setting up initial meetings with the young person.  We will also keep the referring agency informed of a young person’s progress, where permission is granted.

Click on the links below to download one of our referral forms.  If you are unable to download, write to or open any of the referral forms, please let us know and we can send some to you by post or email.  Completed email referrals forms should be sent to Fiona Langskaill; either to our business address in Musselburgh or faxed to: 0131 665 3179 or email.

Feel free to contact Fiona Langskaill or Jim Boyle to discuss a possible referral on 0131 665 1621.

Lucy Says:

"Appin is an ideal environment for anyone working towards becoming an experienced and desirable employee. It helped me with my timekeeping and to realise how hard the work is. I an lucky to be part of a good team, where we all muck in and help one another."
