Big Lottery Award

Bridges Project is delighted to be awarded with a new grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Investing in Communities programme to support its Way2Work service over the next five years. This significant investment in vulnerable young people in East Lothian and Midlothian is timely. The grant will enable Bridges Project and its local partners to work with young people to plot individual pathways of opportunity; from unemployment and uncertainty to sustainable jobs, college places and vocational training. The provision of one-to-one support, work practice placements and group work are all funded through this generous award which will make a significant difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people, their families and local communities. Way2Work will operate with a team of three from 1 November and with a team of four from January 2012. For more information on the revamped service, please call Fiona Langskaill on 0131 665 1621.

Caroline Says:

"I have been teaching the group lots of guitar chords and runs for the past year. It is sometimes hard but really fun when I see people picking things up. The guitar can give you discipline and everyone always goes away with a smile on their face. It's good working together and being sociable."
